Weekly update |
||
I hope you are well. We would like to update you on what we have been doing in the Bartley Green area this week: . We have attended a coffee morning at St Francis centre where we were able to speak to the organisers and the members who were present at the event to listen to any concerns that people may have what they would like to raise to us. We are looking at making this a regular thing like what we do at Milebrook hall, so we can better engage with people who may not go to the one at Milebrook hall. . Officers have gone around to the estates surrounding Newman university to view the issues residents have reported to us in regards of students parking along the streets making it hard for members of the community to walk down the pavement due to how they have parked. On the 30th of September, we went down to Brett drive where we issued 16 Park it doesn’t Plonk it ticket. We know this is only a small temporary solution to the issue, so we have drafted up a letter to deliver to Newman university, where the university staff will print out the letter and hand it to each student explaining that if they were to obstruct the pavement, drop down curve, junctions ETC. we will give them a £30 ticket due to how they have parked. We have explained to staff we will start ticketing cars past the 10th of October, where we will try and come down as much as possible in hopes this stops the issues listed above. Since the last WMNOW message, we have received three report of a theft of a motor vehicle in the area. We advise you to make sure that you have the necessary measures to keep your vehicle secure and safe. We advise you to install security measures such as a disk lock for your vehicles steering wheel. A gear stick lock to make sure no one can change gear’s if suspects was to get in your vehicle. We also advise to install pull up metal pillars on top of your drive to trap your vehicle in, that is only if you park your car on your homes drive. These measures help to keep your vehicle safe as all the security measures will help deter anyone from trying to steal your vehicle. Since the last WMNOW message, we have had three report of homes being broken into in the area. We advise you to take the necessary measures to keep your home safe and secure. You can do this by locking your doors and windows to help keep the property secure. You can also install Anti-snap locks what will help make your doors leading into the home more secure and less likely to be broken into. We also advise you to purchase and install CCTV cameras as this can help deter people from trying to gain entry into your property. It also helps be able to get a clear picture of the individual if they did try to gain entry to your home making it easier for officers to identify the suspect. We still encourage residents to register their home/business CCTV and doorbell cameras, as this helps us solve crimes by providing us the appropriate footage what captures the crime in question. This not only helps us solves crimes, but it also helps to keep your community safer. You can use the link below, what takes you to our web page where you can register your CCTV cameras by putting in your details. This helps officers be able to get in contact with you if they believe your CCTV camera has potential digital footage of a crime being committed, as they can see the local area where has crime has took place, and see your CCTV camera present in that area. This will help officers in dealing with crimes more quickly and swiftly, what will then allow them to do more jobs, helping to make the community a safer place. CCTV Registry | West Midlands Police We are still experiencing an increase of demand from across the area over the last few weeks, with more people calling and asking for help. Our staff are working extremely hard to answer and respond to your calls and live chats. But due to the high demand it can cause callers to have to wait longer than they should, what if something neither of us want at all. We prioritize your enquires/calls based on how urgent they are, but we always appreciate that you want help as soon as possible. In Non-emergencies circumstances, we want you to get in contact with us through the live web chat, or the Non-emergency telephone 101. If your circumstances are emergencies, then please call 999.
We are still looking to recruit for the Street watch initiative. For further information please visit the WMP website for details. You can use the link below what will take you to our page where the necessary steps to register your interest in the street watch programme, can be made. Street Watch | West Midlands Police
